I started baking with fruit breads (banana bread for example) and then into different types/styles of basic/staple breads. Funnily enough, I’m not a fan of sweets, but I love the texture of cake and a lot of pastries in general. I make tons of pastries/cakes with minimal sweetness (or salt to counter) and almost never any glazing or icing. Fruit/bean filling makes great sweet pastries without the need of the extra smothering of different sources of sugar.
